Lateral Flow Readers
Lateral flow assays (LFAs) are widely used across clinical diagnostics, life sciences research, food safety, veterinary testing, environmental monitoring, and industrial quality control. Their speed, simplicity, and portability make them one of the most important rapid testing technologies for decentralized and point-of-care applications.
As lateral flow testing evolves toward quantitative and data-driven workflows, laboratories and manufacturers face increasing demands for sensitivity, reproducibility, traceability, and digital integration. Regulatory frameworks and quality standards such as IVDR (EU 2017/746), ISO 13485, GMP, GLP, and CLSI guidelines continue to drive the need for standardized and reliable assay interpretation.
Lateral flow readers improve analytical performance by reducing subjective visual interpretation and enabling qualitative, semi-quantitative, and quantitative analysis. Advanced reader technologies support fluorescence-based detection for increased assay sensitivity, while LIS/LIMS connectivity enables automated digital data capture, improved traceability, and streamlined laboratory workflows.
At IUL, we develop advanced lateral flow reader solutions designed to improve assay reliability, workflow efficiency, and result standardization across diagnostic, research, and industrial applications.
STEP 1
Test loading
The sample, from a tube, a swab or a collection cup, is applied to the lateral flow cassette, which is then loaded into the reader.
STEP 2
Cassette settings and sample confirmation
The reader identifies the cassette from its QR code and loads its settings. The sample is confirmed before the test is read.
STEP 3
Test scanning
The reader scans the cassette and shows the result on screen: the value of each test line and the state of the control line.
STEP 4
Result export
Results can be exported as CSV or PDF, printed, or sent to the LIMS.
STEP 1
Drawer customization
The cassette drawer can be adapted to the formats of the partner's lateral flow tests.
OEM
OEM reader
A reader adapted to the partner: colors, software, logo and connectivity can all be customized.

STEP 2
Colorimetric reading
Designed for larger colorimetric cassettes, iPeak® Plus supports up to 5 strips and 7 lines per strip, plus flexible analysis, data export and traceability.

STEP 2
Colorimetric reading
Read and interpret colorimetric lateral flow assays for qualitative, semi-quantitative and quantitative results, with data export and sample traceability.

STEP 2
Fluorescence reading
Bring Europium fluorescence detection to lateral flow assays, supporting qualitative, semi-quantitative and quantitative analysis.

STEP 2
Colorimetric and fluorescence reading
Combine colorimetric and Europium fluorescence lateral flow readings in one reader, with flexible data export and traceability.
STEP 3
Settings configuration
The reader's settings are configured on a computer for the partner's tests.
STEP 4
Cassette settings export
The configuration is exported as a QR code that the reader scans to load the cassette settings.
